Still plugging away

I have been catching up on my Harry Potter reading, as I hadn't readit before--yes, there is somone out there who didn't read them when first published! I went to see the movie of 'The Order of the Phoenix", and decided that I wanted to see if there was such a large discrepency between the book and the movie. I can see that this screen play was much closer to the book than that of "Goblet of Fire". I have been having a great time with this personal challenge.

I also finished the YA staff SRP challenge, reading three YA books. So my spare time at home has been reading, not playing with these tech/online fun spots. It really just takes time to fiddle with them to understand how they work. I think that is why kids are so good at them, they have time to tinker around, while we are busy with cleaning, laundry, cooking, work....you get the picture! When you add in homeschooling, it is really a challenge!

I am busy setting up a schedule/courses for my son. He will be in 10th grade, and we will be taking consumer math, American history, English, biology, and working on credits in drama, and PE. That will keep us very busy, along with his small business of lawn care. I look forward to the course work and how much more he is able to do on his own. It is tough with a student with special needs, and getting a curriculum that is challenging but not overwhelming. I am sure that other families have the same issues. The year is looking promising!

Good start Lois!

Now that you have started a blog, be sure to visit each of the 23 Things and work through the "discovery exercise" for each.

Once you get to some of the "23 Things" that instruct you to access other blogs and use the new bookmarking tools, I bet you'll find some new homeschooling resources.

Email me if you have any questions, or call, or you can schedule some time with me in the training lab here in Abingdon, if your branch's schedule will allow.
